This week:
D-ZIRE – DIPPY DO
D-Zire’s very rare 1999 single “Dippy Do” is a refreshing, traditional bubblegum song with cute (and quite strange) lyrics. The production is great and I really love the girl’s unique vocals.
FUN-TC – YUPPIE AH YEAH
I’ve posted this song numerous times, only because I absolutely LOVE it! One of the best traditional styled bubblegum tracks in my opinion. Top notch production, catchy, and fun – this is feel good bubblegum at its best!
GUDRUN – WorldWideWebGirl
This is the original version of “www.Girl” that was made famous by Toy-Box. Gudrun’s version is very different, and is slower than Toy-Box’s remake who sped it up and changed the arrangement. This version is more poppy, with more lyrics (some of them quite bizzare such as the email address). While I like Toy-Box’s version much more, this is still a good song.
THE COMPTON BOYS – ACTION MAN
Easily one of the BEST “Barbie Girl” parodies I have heard in a long time, The Compton Boys “Action Man” makes clever use of the Barbie Girl instrumental, remaking it into an original song. The vocals are excellent, and the lyrics are hilarious – this should not be missed!
CODE RED – BANG BANG
For me, Code Red’s 2009 single “Bang Bang” is a true representation of what bubblegum dance should sound like today. The energy in this song is phenomenal, and I love their unique style. This is an excellent song and a very good project so be sure to support them!
