Just off the press! SMiLE.dk Latest News

Posted on April 23rd, 2010 by Mitch Andrews  |  No Comments »

Yesterday, SMiLE.DK announced some very important changes that are happening this year.

Hanna has decided to leave the Smile project due to changing priorities in her life, and no longer having the time to juggle both Smile and her job at the same time.

“I respect that in every way,” says Veronica Almqvist, long time founding member of Smile.dk.  “I think that we will come to see her shine like a star on all of us in a future not too far away!”

While Hanna may be leaving the project, fans should not worry about the progress of their new album.  Veronica had already started searching for a new singer.

“Since we had a new album planned, the search for a new SMiLE.dk singer begun,” she says.  “But filling the shoes after a talented singer like Hanna is not an easy task for any aspiring candidate.”

Veronica searched far and wide and finally found a replacement for Hanna.

Introducing to fans, Cecilia, the newest member of SMiLE.dk.

“She is eager to get into all that it means to be a “SMiLE”-girl,” says Veronica.  “And from now on, gradually you will see more of her on our social community sites.”

Veronica describes the new group’s style and composition as having more contrast than ever before, in both look and sound.

The new album, which will be released very soon, can be described as a complete fresh start for the Smile.dk project.

“The new album that we are recording is an album for the fans, regardless if you are a fan new to the music or an old fan from the beginning of the SMiLE era,” says Veronica.

Smile.dk also announced that they are no longer working with Dicaster Management/Diskowarp Records for the new album, though Diskowarp may be supplying some remixes.

“This to better, being able to get a new fresh sound, and a better perspective on the dynamics of our contrasting voices,” Veronica explains.

Rumour has it that some of the original producers from the Future Girls (2000) album may be returning to work on The Makeup Collection (2010), including a brand new remix of “Future Girls” itself.

“the new producers are intimately familiar with the history and sound of SMiLE,” Veronica says.  “The music will hopefully still be easily recognized by all the fans.”

SMiLE.dk’s brand new Web site, smiledkmusic.com , will be opening in a few days – so stay tuned for updates!

Johnny Jam & Delgado – 2010 Return?

Posted on March 8th, 2010 by Mitch Andrews  |  3 Comments »

Rumour has it that JOHNNY JAM & DELGADO, world-famous producers behind AQUA‘s hits, including the #number one single “Barbie Girl“, may be planning on bringing the bubblegum sound back.

While nothing can be confirmed yet, in an interview Delgado reveals to Bubblegum Dancer that “currently everything is under wraps… but stay tuned as we could be heading for an exciting autumn…

If anyone was to bring back the bubblegum sound, it would have to be Johnny Jam and Delgado – the one’s who started it all.  Drawing influence from David Guetta and Red One’s sound, Johnny Jam & Delgado could be back in the studio very soon creating new bubblegum projects!

Please stay tuned for Bubblegum Dancer’s exclusive interview with Delgado, which will be posted shortly.

Machoman rumour

MACHOMAN is a interesting looking guy, and most of his true identity is hidden behind thick black glasses and a long blonde WIG.  Analyzing his features in the music video Wookie Wookie, both a friend and I agreed that Machoman is probably of Asian decent, most likely Japanese.  His natural hair colour is black (see the photos on the Machoman page below), and his facial bone structure suggest Asian decent.

Could his glasses be to hide his Asian eyes? It’s possible. :)

Dominoo news

Posted on January 29th, 2010 by Mitch Andrews  |  No Comments »

I had somebody ask me about the DOMINOO project, and if there are any rumours about what they are doing nowadays, so I thought I would post a response here.

Remixed Records, Dominoo’s label, is currently still alive and you can even read about Dominoo there on their official page:  www.remixed.se However, I don’t know if there has been any new releases for a long while.  Remixed Records most famous artist is Solid Base, as they sold millions of albums all over the world – so they should definitely be still in business.

As for Dominoo, there were rumours a couple of years ago that they might make a comeback – it began with a Dominoo member posting a comment on Last.fm that they “might return someday”, but when I tried contacting that member they didn’t respond. :(

I recently learned that Fiina, one of the Dominoo members, was killed in a car accident in 2001, which may explain why no further releases were made.  Often when a band member dies the group decides to discontinue out of respect – for example, Crispy.  However, since then Dominoo HAS performed without Fiina, in a tribute concert for him in 2001 (see VIDEO and VIDEO).

Horpe, the lead male vocalist in Dominoo, also recently got married to “Maria” (I thought this was Sophie, but I’m not sure haha).  As part of their wedding dance they performed an original bubblegum dance song that they had written for their special day – “Wedding Dancer”… isn’t that just plain awesome?!  Horpe did rapping and backup and Maria did the leads.  You can watch their wedding video on YouTube here: HORPE & MARIA WEDDING DANCER

Really there’s no telling what Dominoo – or any group for that matter – might decide to do next.  A comeback IS possible, after all they still have all the hits and a fanbase from their first album under their belt, all it would take is one comeback single and an email to me (hint hint) and they’d be off!  I’d love to see Dominoo make a comeback one day, their music was excellent (as you can tell from my review), and with a production team like the people at Remixed Records they couldn’t go wrong.
