Cherona’s Vicky Goes Solo

Posted on May 10th, 2010 by Mitch Andrews  |  No Comments »

This year the lead vocalist of CHERONA, Vicky Chase, has released a number of solo singles.

One of these singles is a cover of BANAROO‘s Christmas song, “Coming Home For Christmas.”  Recently, Vicky released her brand new single “Your Love Is Showbiz,” which also featured the track “You Can Shine.

Click here to listen to a preview of Your Love Is Showbiz; and click here to listen to Coming Home For Christmas.

But what then has become of Cherona?

We haven’t heard from Cherona since late 2009 when they released their latest single “Dragonfly” (a cover of SMiLE.dk‘s song).  However, their official Web site is still online and there is a lot of activity.  Vicky is also featured in the graphics, so we assume she is still in the group.

Fingers crossed that we hear more from both Vicky and Cherona this year!

Smile.dk New Website Launched

Posted on April 26th, 2010 by Mitch Andrews  |  No Comments »

SMiLE.dk‘s brand new Official Web site was launched this morning.

The Web site has a darker style than their old site, with a dark photo of both Veronica and Cecilia as the main picture.  The background is plain black, with a red and white text.

The music in the player is “Boys (Pasta Peoples Flutterboy Mix).”  This song was featured on the CD-Maxi Boys and is not one of the new 2010 mixes in case there is some confusion.

The new discography section features a professional menu divided into two sections: Albums and Singles.  A neat and simple set up allows users to view album art, the track list, and listen to previews with the built-in player.  Also pay special attention to the bottom-right fan-blurb.  Something you have written for the Reviews Section may be featured there.

The new Music Videos section includes past music videos from the 90s, as well as a collection of live performances from shows.

The new Pictures section includes three slideshow categories: Past to present; Smile.dk tours; and Anime pictures.  There are some really great never-seen-before photos in these collections.

Be sure to leave SMiLE.dk a comment in their shoutout box by clicking on the Interact menu.

Hanna says Goodbye

Posted on April 26th, 2010 by Mitch Andrews  |  1 Comment »

Yesterday, Hanna Stockzell from SMiLE.dk posted a goodbye notice on Bubblegum Dancer Forums.

Hanna left SMiLE.dk last week to pursue her own career in music.  Fans should know that they have not seen the last of Hanna, and a source told Bubblegum Dancer that a solo single or album release might happen one day.

Below is the letter Hanna posted on the Forums:

Hey Everybody! It’s Hanna here!

I just wanna thank you all for my time in Smile.dk! I wanna say how much i love you all! You have been a great support and inspiration during these years! IM very proud to have been a part of the group and your life. Some of you have become friends. Hopefully i have touched some of your hearts with lyrics, vocals and melodies.

I know there is a lot of questions about me leaving Smile.dk and in what way I will continue as an artist and songwriter. I just wanna share this to you all: I love bubblegum music and everything around it. This will not be my first or last project in the world of bubblegumļ

See you out there in a near future.

I will keep spreading the message of happiness and love.

I don’t wanna say goodbye i wanna say welcome to a new start!!

With Love,
Hanna

Bubblegum Dancer would like to wish Hanna the best of luck for her future and career!  You are very talented and we will miss you very much! xoxo

Just off the press! SMiLE.dk Latest News

Posted on April 23rd, 2010 by Mitch Andrews  |  No Comments »

Yesterday, SMiLE.DK announced some very important changes that are happening this year.

Hanna has decided to leave the Smile project due to changing priorities in her life, and no longer having the time to juggle both Smile and her job at the same time.

“I respect that in every way,” says Veronica Almqvist, long time founding member of Smile.dk.  “I think that we will come to see her shine like a star on all of us in a future not too far away!”

While Hanna may be leaving the project, fans should not worry about the progress of their new album.  Veronica had already started searching for a new singer.

“Since we had a new album planned, the search for a new SMiLE.dk singer begun,” she says.  “But filling the shoes after a talented singer like Hanna is not an easy task for any aspiring candidate.”

Veronica searched far and wide and finally found a replacement for Hanna.

Introducing to fans, Cecilia, the newest member of SMiLE.dk.

“She is eager to get into all that it means to be a “SMiLE”-girl,” says Veronica.  “And from now on, gradually you will see more of her on our social community sites.”

Veronica describes the new group’s style and composition as having more contrast than ever before, in both look and sound.

The new album, which will be released very soon, can be described as a complete fresh start for the Smile.dk project.

“The new album that we are recording is an album for the fans, regardless if you are a fan new to the music or an old fan from the beginning of the SMiLE era,” says Veronica.

Smile.dk also announced that they are no longer working with Dicaster Management/Diskowarp Records for the new album, though Diskowarp may be supplying some remixes.

“This to better, being able to get a new fresh sound, and a better perspective on the dynamics of our contrasting voices,” Veronica explains.

Rumour has it that some of the original producers from the Future Girls (2000) album may be returning to work on The Makeup Collection (2010), including a brand new remix of “Future Girls” itself.

“the new producers are intimately familiar with the history and sound of SMiLE,” Veronica says.  “The music will hopefully still be easily recognized by all the fans.”

SMiLE.dk’s brand new Web site, smiledkmusic.com , will be opening in a few days – so stay tuned for updates!

Hanna Leaves SMiLE.dk + New Member / New Producers

Posted on April 22nd, 2010 by Mitch Andrews  |  2 Comments »

SMiLE.dk’s Veronica contacted Bubblegum Dancer today with some very important news about the future of the project.  Below is the letter that she wrote to her fans.

Dear friends and fans!

As for the last year, you all might have noticed the more and more obvious absence of Hanna regarding blogging and correspondence on facebook and MySpace. This is mainly because of changed priorities of the projects in her life.  This resulted, a while ago, in the sad conclusion that Hanna now has choosen to walk her own path to fame and glory.  I respect that in every way and I think that we will come to see her shine like a star on all of us in a future not too far away!

Since we had a new album planned, the search for a new SMiLE.dk singer began, but filling the shoes after a talented singer like Hanna is not an easy task for any aspiring candidate.

Today we are back on track. SMiLE.dk is now complete again. This time the groups composition has more contrast than ever in both look and sound. I would like to introduce to you, my friend, Cecilia. She is eager to get into all that it means to be a “SMiLE”-girl, and from now on, gradually you will see more of her on our social community sites.

A further presentation of her will also be accessible, when we launch our brand new website, soon.

The new album that we are recording is an album for the fans, regardless if you are a fan new to the music or an old fan from the begining of the SMiLE era. Since it’s going to be a fresh start-over for the group, we have decided to also proceed with new producers on this album. This to better being able to get a new fresh sound, and a better perspective on the dynamics of our contrasting voices. Still, the new producers are intimately familiar with the history and sound of SMiLE, so the music will hopefully still be easily recognized by all the fans.

SMiLE.DK is back in the studio working on their upcoming Greatest Hits album “The Makeup Collection.

The news that they are making a new album was confirmed on their Official Web site (which was offline at the time of this post) and MySpace page in late February.  The girls revealed that there will be 5 new songs on the new album, as well as new mixes of old favourites.

“We are so exhited and feel so inspired…this will be an album with our greatest hits remade for 2010 and also with five new tracks!!!”

On March 5th, Smile.dk announced that they completed the first single from their new album.

On March they posted a notice saying they have completed another track from the new album.

Details on the titles of the new songs are yet to be revealed, but Hanna and Veronica promise that we will not be disappointed.

“This is the best job in the world!!” they declared after a long day in the studio.  “Ai ai ai I love to sing smile…!”

Rumour has it there may be some new producers working on remixing their material for the Greatest Hits release, including a producer that has worked with Smile.dk in the past.

While we cannot reveal any of the details yet, a brand new mix of Future Girls might be on the way…

Stay tuned for more information as we hear it!
