Splash
Splash is a bubblegum dance duo from Norway, made up of two members Anett Nylander and Janni Santillan (pictured). Splash released 3 albums in their years active, including a special Christmas compilation album.
Janni and Anett were 11 and 12 when they formed the group Splash. The group is assumed to be disbandoned today, with no new releases since 2002.
Biography
The history of Splash began in early spring. The bubblegum girl group Spin-Up was traveling around Norway visiting schools with their management Tribe Records. At two of the schools were Janni and Anett. They stood in the front row and danced and were so enthusiastic that they were hard to forget.
They wanted to be a popstar just like the girls in Spin-Up, and so they did just that. After the concert they came to ask the management which school they would need to go to to become a popstar. In response, the management told them that there was no special schools for popstars in Norway. Neither Janni or Anett was satisfied with the answer, so they did not stop there.
It was not easy to forget the two young girls, and a few days later they were invited to audition at Tribe Records. After tests in the studio singing and dancing, it was decided to take this a step further. The girls became involved in singing, dancing, photo sessions, recording commercials alongside Spin-Up - bot bad at all for two girls in middle school.
Splash soon became one of the most popular groups among children. Their debut album consists of Scandinavian hits, popular children's songs, Grand Prix hits and a few original songs. Splash are not like other child stars, they want the public to see them as a Norwegian version of foreign pop stars.
God Jul & Godt Nyttår
Splash's special Christmas album release consists of a total of 12 great Christmas songs. Some of the songs are Norwegian classics, such as "Let It Snow" and "Winter Wonderland." Others are English classics which Splash has received special permission to perform with Norwegian lyrics. For example, John Lennon and Yoko Ono's classic "Happy X-Mas (War Is Over)" now has Norwegian text and is called "God Jul & Godt Nyttår."
In the classic Christmas song "Sleigh Ride" the Splash girls have two guest artists - former child stars Jannicke Abrahamsen and Anita Hegerland. "Sleigh ride" is a cozy Christmas song performed by three generations of child stars!
"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" also contains a new song called "Santa Claus Boogie". The album ends with the girls perform a song in English, Wham'' s classic "Last Christmas." "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" is produced as a fine and pure pop album.
All We Wanna Do
Splash's second album "All We Wanna Do" was released in 2002. It includes many great bubblegum dance songs, including a cover of Infinity's "Happy" and Di-Mico's "All I Wanna Do" (two popular Norwegian bands).
