Sisse
Sisse is the name of a bubblegum dance project from Denmark, best known for her 2001 song "Du Har Brug For Mig." She released an album of the same name that year.
The production of Sisse's debut album was led by well-known bubblegum dance producers Darwich & Garcia, and as a result, many of Sisse's songs can be compared in style to other bubblegum projects they have worked with, including Creamy and Caroline. Some of Sisse's songs were also reworked as English versions for other projects later on. These include "Det Blir Aldrig Os Igen" which would later become "Summersign" by Patricia; and "Dig Og Mig" which would later become "This 'n That" by Zynergy.
Biography
Marie Søby was born in Aalbord, Denmark, on November 21, 1985. In 2001, she competed in Melodi Grand Prix Junior, a Danish children's music competition, where she won with the song "Du Har Brug For Mig". Her album, also titled "Du Har Brug For Mig", was released later that year. The album was certified gold and won a Danish Music Award for Best Teen Album, and it spawned one single, "DJ Baby."
Sisse recorded her next single, "Boom", under the name Sisse Marie in 2005, and has released several other singles since then. Her musical style has matured since her first album, and nothing she's recorded under the name Sisse Marie can be considered bubblegum dance. However, she has still found success with this change in style. Three of her modern singles have reached #1 on Danish charts, and her song "Paralyzed" was featured in the video game "The Sims 3" in 2012. Although the song is originally in English, for the game, she re-recorded the song in "Simlish", the franchise's fictional language. The game also featured Sisse as a character.
Aside from her music career, Sisse also works as a model in various countries all over the world. She's featured in advertisements for companies such as Heineken, Volvo, and Wonderbra, and has done photoshoots for magazines such as Cosmopolitan, T3, and Marie Claire. In 2006, she became a hostess on Danish MTV, and her program became the most-watched program on the network.
