Ch!pz confirms 2018 comeback!
Posted on October 24, 2018 by Mitch Andrews
Wonderful news for fans of Dutch bubblegum dance group Ch!pz, who confirmed yesterday that they will be making a comeback in 2018.
The comeback will see the reunion of members Rachel van Hoogen, Cilla Niekoop, Peter Rost, and Kevin Hellenbrand, who have been hinting about a possible Ch!pz comeback on their Facebook and Instagram accounts for quite some time.

A new press release image shows the members of Ch!pz in a familiar looking pose.
The group told RTL Boulevard that the idea rose for a comeback after an April fool's joke that went a little too far.
"A few days before the national joke day I posted a message on Facebook stating that we would be performing at the Ziggo Dome on 1 April. We immediately got all kinds of nice reactions, and even the media went off with the news. Then I created an app group and we started talking with all kinds of parties and we indicated that we would like to come together again," says Kevin.
Bubblegum Dancer was also sucked into the news about their comeback performance on April 1st, and some of you might remember our news post here. As frustrating as that was for fans to find out that it was a joke at the time, it's wonderful to know that that joke has ended up generating enough talk to make the comeback actually happen!
Ch!pz was stopped back in 2010, after 5 or so years in the spotlight. They are best known for their hits Chipz in Black, 1001 Arabian Nights, Cowboy and Captain Hook. Ch!pz was one of the last great traditional bubblegum dance acts, with producers Jay Vandenberg and Hartmann & Langhoff closely following the traditional bubblegum dance style of production that was popular in the 1990s, and made famous by groups such as Aqua, the Vengaboys and Toy-Box.
It has not yet been confirmed whether or not Ch!pz will be returning to the studio to record new music, or even releasing the album "The New Adventures of Ch!pz" which was scrapped in 2010, but fans remain hopeful. At this stage, the group will be scheduling live performances in Europe and focusing on their well-known hits, with their first concert scheduled for next Saturday in Brabanthallen.

Chipz concert an April Fool's joke
Posted on April 3, 2018 by Mitch Andrews
Ch!pz revealed on their Facebook that the concert advertised on April 1st was actually infact an April Fool's prank.
As disappointing as the news is, it has sparked a lot of interest for the group from hopeful fans who wanted to be there, and the group may actually be looking at making the performance a reality in the future after all.
Member Kevin Hellenbrand has also been active on instagram lately, posting pictures of Ch!pz discography nostalgia, and a picture of himself and fellow Ch!pz member Cilla with the caption "plannen maken" (plan making).
Whatever it is Ch!pz is planning, the group definitely appears to be back together (however perhaps not "officially"), and hopefully we will find out what they have instore soon.

Ch!pz are performing a "once-off" concert at the "Ziggo Dome" on April 1st, in De Passage 100, Amsterdam, Netherlands. The concert was announced via Facebook and will take place at 14:00 UTC.
The event's name is "Eenmalig optreden van Ch!pz" which translates to "One-off performance by Ch!pz" There is currently no information about whether Ch!pz will perform again, though we are hopeful this show will be successful enough to trigger more performances in the future.
Chipz 2018 comeback hopeful
Posted on March 27, 2018 by Mitch Andrews
Bubblegum dance group Ch!pz from the Netherlands have been teasing about a potential comeback since late last year, and recent posts on social media make fans hopeful that we are getting closer.
The band, made up of members Rachel van Hoogen, Cilla Niekoop, Peter Rost, and Kevin Hellenbrand was active between 2003 - 2011, and are best known for their hits Chipz in Black, 1001 Arabian Nights, Cowboy and Captain Hook.
It appears that the entertainment company "Concert Entertainment" in the Netherlands may be behind the group's potential comeback. On 19th March they posted a video on YouTube titled "Chipz 2018" with snippets of various live performances. At the end of the video, they leave a message in Dutch which states:
"Do you want them to perform again, or maybe more than once? Like and share this movie everywhere on social media and who knows, [we may get them back together with each other]."
It appears the group's label is wanting to see if there is enough interest in a Ch!pz comeback before investing in it, so please share this post and start a buzz! It looks like the members are onboard with a comeback, so it's just a matter of convincing the label.
Would you like to see a Ch!pz comeback? Do you think they would have the same bubblegum dance sound, or move onto a newer style? Please leave your comments below.
