Q-Fource
Q-Fource is the name of a bubblegum dance/pop girl group from the Netherlands, made up of 4 members Vivian Oliana, Michelle, Yvonne and Carlijn. The group had two single releases, “Ooh Ooh Ooh” and “In The Jungle” (both 2002). The group was associated with the Dutch TV program “Quatro”, in which they released various music videos and specials, although details on these releases are scarce.
Q-Fource’s booking agency was Intershow, and they were signed to the music label AG Music in the Netherlands. If you have more information on Q-Fource you would like to share for this page, please contact us.
Timeline
Very little information is known about this project, however the girls had kept a weekly journal on the site, so Bubblegum Dancer has pieced together a basic timeline from that.
Q-Fource was formed in early 2002. From their Web journal published on their now defunct official Website, it appears that the girls recorded two songs around the same time. The music was recorded in Amsterdam, and the girls were required to take the train to Amsterdam to record the songs. In June 2002 they performed their music in front of an audience at the “van der Meer Disco” in the city of Herehugowaard. Their support act was from Coast To Coast. The concert was a great success and the girls said that the highlight was their song “Jungle” which the crowd went crazy for.
The project was sponsored by the clothing line “Steps Girls”, and the girls were allowed to pick clothing from them (although they said they didn’t get much time to choose because they were so busy that week). It was this week that the girls were busy recording video clips for the Dutch TV station Quatro. They received the music on September 1st and had to practise right away, going into the studio two days later to record the videos and music. Details on the Quatro TV recordings are published below.
In September the girls had their second live show in Alkmaar. The show was completely packed, much to the girls surprise and delight. They said that the show went completely crazy and was over too soon - they wanted to do it again.
29th September the girls went to Amsterdam to re-record the song “Jungle”. They said they had already recorded the song, but it was more of a demo recording, and the song had evolved and changed in style since. The re-recording went a lot better than the first time, and it was this re-recording that would later be released as a single.
The girls did another show in October 2002, and said that they added a new song to their repertoire, which was stressful as they only had a few days in advance to rehearse it. Information on the new song’s title was not revealed, however.
Around 23rd November the girls performed at the Disco “De Linde” in Groesbeek, again taking the train to the performance. The show was a success and the girls handed out autographed photos after the performance. Also this month the girls performed in Utrecht, at the large shopping centre Hoog Catherijne. A very nice stage had been prepared for them, and they performed three songs: “Lady Marmalade”, “Round Round” and their new single “Jungle.”
On December 21st the girls performed at Dordrecht. They were disappointed by the lack of audience members, writing in their online journal that “We had a great time despite the fact that there was little audience, but we can’t always hit it.”
The girls’ final Website update was 15th January 2003 in which they described the success of a show at Unigeest, in which they won an award and met some celebrities. Despite the show being popular with a large audience, this was the girls final entry on their Website, suggesting that the group was discontinued this year.
Quatro TV
Based on information from their old Website, it appears the girls had a deal with the Dutch TV station “Quatro” to record music and perform in some video clips, likely for a Christmas special. There is a clip on the site of them performing a Dutch-English composition of “Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
The girls received the music from Quatro on September 1st and had to practise right away, going into the studio two days later to record the videos and music. Once again, they travelled to Amsterdam, but it was a different studio to the one they used to record their singles. The recording went well because the girls were able to decide between the 4 of them who sang which bits, and it was a very relaxed recording. Thursday 5th September was the scheduled recording day for the videos, and the girls were required to be there at 8am, a little earlier for the makeup.
The first video recording was at 10am at “Dita”, a large furniture store in Alkmaar. The production team had made a living room scene for them, with all shades of red. The next location was at a large house in the middle of the Bergen forest. Initially the girls had lunch at the house, and then went back to work to record the next video. They filmed in the house and also on a swing, in the hammock and amongst plants and trees. Afterwards they went to the beach and filmed both in clothes and in a bikini.
