Double Date
Double Date were a Bubblegum Eurodance duo from the Netherlands, made up of two sisters Barbara Kuylenburg & Isabelle Kuylenburg (born March 22, 1980).
Double Date released three singles in 1999, "E-Mail To Berlin", "The Logical Song," and "Salt Water Kiss", the latter being their only bubblegum dance single. They are perhaps best known for their performance of "E-Mail To Berlin" during the final round of the National Song Contest in 1999.
Biography
The following biography was taken from Double Date's now-defunct official Website (www.doubledate.nl) in 2000. Please note that the original text was in Dutch, and this has been translated by Google, with spelling and grammar corrected by Bubblegum Dancer.
Isabelle and Barbara Kuylenburg were born identical twins on March 22, 1980 in Amsterdam, Isabelle fourteen minutes earlier than Barbara. When they were eleven years old they appeared in a feature film by Peter Greenaway. Later, a photoshoot for girls' magazine "Tina" followed, modeling - from Employment Office to Wehkamp - they were guest presenters of Villa Achterwerk, [were] as dancers in two video clips and were always in the front row at family parties and the theater performance at school.
They sat side by side in the benches up to and including the third grade of secondary school, and then they parted ways. Isabelle finished HAVO in '97 and, in search of adventure, decided to volunteer on a kibbutz in Israel. Barbara, who got her high school diploma a year later, could hardly miss her twin sister and joined her.
Before her departure, however, Barbara was asked by producers Flamman and Abraxas to participate in the National Song Contest and when Barbara assured them that her sister was not inferior to her, Double Date was born.
Unfortunately they did not win the National Song Contest, but it certainly did them no harm! From that moment on, Double Date enjoyed great popularity and, in addition to countless performances, they are frequently asked for guest presentations, fashion reports etc.
After the Eurovision hit "Email to Berlin", which was high in the Top 40, their second single "The Logical Song" followed, which was accompanied by a beautiful video clip, which was regularly shown on TMF for weeks, and at the moment [in 1999] their latest single "Salt Water Kiss", produced by hit producers Eric van Thijn & Jochem Fluitsma, is about to become a big hit.
