Happy Hardcore is a music genre of hard dance/techno, originally developed in the United Kingdom and The Netherlands. It emerged in the mid to late 1990s from the breakbeat hardcore rave scene, and a large amount of Happy Hardcore music was produced in Germany.
An example of a Happy Hardcore project is Blümchen from Germany, who combined thumping techno beats with sweet, child-like vocals and topics - a common theme in happy hardcore productions. Scooter, 4 Tune Fairytales and The Smurfs collection of Happy Hardcore releases are also well-known.
Please note that at this stage Bubblegum Dancer does not catalog very much happy hardcore music, but we are expected to expand this genre into our database eventually so expect this section to grow.
Production & style
Happy Hardcore originally focused on break beat production, and eventually started to focus on vocals and a 4/4 kick drum pattern. Happy Hardcore is a completely separate genre to Bubblegum Dance music, and is much faster tempo, with roots in hard dance and techno rather than eurodance and pop-dance.
